Adam Moyer

Adam is entering his third year of a Ph. D. program in meteorology at Penn State University. He will be receiving his M. S. over the summer on the topic of outer wind fields in Atlantic hurricanes. In 2003, Adam obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in meteorology, also from Penn State. Adam’s interests in the field are tropical and dynamical meteorology. He also has a background in forecasting. Adam interned at two television stations while he was an undergrad, WYOU-TV in Scranton, PA and WWCP-TV in Johnstown, PA. While these experiences were memorable, it turned him off to the television business. Instead, after graduation Adam took a year off and bounced at a bar in Morgantown, WV before entering graduate school. For his Ph. D. thesis, Adam will be looking at ways of improving hurricane prediction through the use of ensemble forecasting. Eventually, he hopes to pursue a career in hurricane forecasting or as a non-research university professor.
