New climate report available

For those of you who are interested, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (a part of the UN's World Meteorological Organization) has recently released its latest report on global climate change. A summary is available here and for a balanced and scientific discussion, please visit RealClimate's page on the issue. For those who don't care to read the summary, the basic conclusion is that there is a 90% chance that humans are causing global warming due to industrial activity. The report also concludes that it is more likely than not that anthropogenic global warming is responsible for the recent increase in hurricane activity. Quite expectedly the report predicts an overall decrease in tropical cyclone frequency but a more than compensatory increase in tropical cyclone intensity. Sorry, Florida!
