The tropical wave we've been following for the last few days has shown no signs of improvement over the last 24 hours. The wave is moving westward toward the Lesser Antilles at 20 mph. It should be moving into an unfavorable environment for development as it enters the Carribean. However, for the first time, the GFDL model is turning this system into a tropical storm, and there is some evidence of the wave in the GFS, although the GFS does not intensify the system. The other system I mentioned yesterday is set to come off the African coast tonight and all the models are still spinning up this system and developing it rapidly. If it does develop, it will be the first "Cape Verde" storm of the season.
