Epsilon takes a step back

The National Hurricane Center in the 10PM EST advisory reports that Epsilon has maintained its hurricane status with sustained winds of 75 mph and a central pressure of 987 mb. The eye is located 855 miles west-southwest of the Azores and moving east at 13 mph.

Epsilon has maintained its eye structure from the previous advisory, but the 20 nautical mile eye is becoming ragged while convection near the eye wall has decreased over the past couple of hours. It seems as if the cooler sea surface temperatures and hostile atmospheric conditions (strong wind shear) are finally catching up to Epsilon.

Hurricane Epsilon is forecast to weaken from here on out and will lose its tropical status in 36 hours while being swept up by the prevailing flow.
