The National Hurricane Center is now issuing advisories for newly formed Tropical Storm Delta. The initial advisory is listing Delta as a very strong storm with sustained winds of 60 mph and a central pressure of 982 mb. Delta is traveling south-southeast at 9 mph but is expected to turn back towards the north.
The visible satellite imagery is clearly showing a very symmetric systen that is approaching hurricane strength. The last visible shot of the day also shows an 'eye-like' feature in the center.
The infrared satellite imagery is not showing this eye any more. There is a solid core of moderately deep convection in the center of the storm. However, outflow is thus far lacking. Tropical Storm Delta has a very well defined circulation and could strengthen into a hurricane during the next couple of days.
