As of the 11:00am AST advisory, the National Hurricane Center has decreased the intensity of Tropical Storm Delta to 982 mb with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Delta is currently moving south-southwest at near 5 mph and remains a strong tropical storm. However, Delta is no threat to land as it is located in the open Atlantic Ocean, 1270 miles southwest of the Azores.
The latest satellite imagery is clearly showing a lack of deep convection around the center of Tropical Storm Delta. While Delta is maintaining a very strong circulation, the only thunderstorm activity is located on the eastern side of the storm. Delta is forecast to continue to weaken as it moves northward over cooler waters and extratropical transition is expected within the next couple of days.
