There are two areas of interest that I am keeping an eye on today. Of more immediate concern is an area of disturbed weather heading towards the Northeast. Widespread strong to severe thunderstorms look likely in the Northeast from this afternoon into tonight. Look for a severe weather watch to be issued for parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York in the near future.
In the tropics, things are also looking a little more active. There is a strong tropical wave in the Eastern Pacific that could develop into a tropical storm in the next couple of days. Right now that wave is lacking sufficient deep convection for development, but that could quickly change.
