Beta approaching Category 3 and land

The latest advisory from Beta is listing winds at 110 mph and the central pressure at 965 mb. This is indicative of a steady strengthening, as I forecast earlier. Tonight the eye has become more evident on satellite imagery as Beta approaches the coast. Those of you with interests in Nicaragua should prepare for a major hurricane strike and the associated heavy rains. In this area, the rains from landfalling hurricanes tend to be the most deadly component.
