We now are dealing with Tropical Storm Otis in the Eastern Pacific and a tropical depression may be forming in the Atlantic. Otis right now is heading generally northward towards the Mexican coast and could impact the Southwest U.S. with rainfall next week. Otis is currently a weak tropical storm, however, is expected to strengthen.
Tropical Storm Kenneth is rapidly weakening, but still on track to strike Hawaii as a rememenant low this weekend. Kenneth could bring heavy rains and flash flooding to much of the Aloha State.
The Atlantic is also looking a little more active. A tropical wave has been flaring up south of Cuba and seems to have the potential to develop in a tropical depression. Upper-level winds have become more favorable in the area, and a hurricane hunter has been scheduled to investigate this system.
