Tropical Storm Ophelia definitely seems to be steadily weakening. This should come as very welcome news in Massachusetts, where a Tropical Storm Watch is posted. The latest satellite shows that Ophelia is quickly losing her structure. The latest recon reports that her pressure is much higher than it has been. It is possible that the cold front draped down the east coast could shear Ophelia and cause even more rapid weakening.
From this point forth, Ophelia should be moving over much cooler water too. The Gulf Stream passes a decent distance off of Cape Cod and a cold water current, the Labrador Fetch, is directly off the New England coast.
