Farewell Posse Comitatus?

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, President Bush is considering asking for federal authority to use the military to intervene in an emergency. The issue? The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the military from acting as civil law enforcement. The type of authority that Bush is looking for would require the repeal of Posse Comitatus. I have mixed feelings about this, but understand something needs to be done. We all know disasters happen and it is now clear that this country is not ready to respond.
